There are certain objects that don’t enter your life by accident.
They arrive with purpose — like a messenger, a companion, or a memory you can hold in your hands.
My drum was one of those.
I met the man who made it quite randomly, at a little market on Gran Canaria. A Norwegian man on vacation — or so it seemed — though later I would realise nothing about that meeting was random.
He told me he had just finished a drum before flying to the island.
Not planned.
Not commissioned.
Just… completed.
In his words:
“The drums always find their owners.”
When he said it, something inside me stirred.
A recognition.
We talked for a while, and he asked me what symbols I wanted painted on the drum. Together we designed it — a star, the most important celestial symbols from my astrology chart , the sun at the center. A map of energy, intuition, and ancient rhythm.
Then he told me he wanted to add something in Nordic runes.
My favourite quote from Carl Jung:
“Who looks outside, dreams.
Who looks inside, awakes.”
He wrote it carefully, rune by rune, turning the drum into more than an instrument.
It became a portal.
A memory.
A tool for connection between worlds.
When he finally placed the drum in my hands, I felt its vibration immediately. Not a sound — a frequency. A sense of “home,” the same feeling I had in Fataga, in the stone circle, in the ravine.
The man came with us on several trips to Fataga.
He walked those same paths.
He stood with us in the quiet, sacred places.
And each time, the drum felt more and more like it belonged to that landscape — as if the island had been waiting for it, waiting for me, waiting for our paths to cross.
When I played it in the mountains for the first time, the sound didn’t echo outward.
It echoed inward.
Straight into my chest.
Straight into that ancient memory that had been waking slowly since the day we first drove into the valley.
The drum wasn’t a souvenir.
It was a companion.
A witness.
A reminder that the spiritual path I was walking wasn’t new —
it was returned to.
It linked Norway to the Canary Islands.
My past lives to my present one.
The old gods to the old mountains.
And every time I strike it, even now, I feel the same truth vibrating through the skin and wood:
Some things, and some people, arrive exactly when your soul is ready to remember.
