Daily prompt—2117

If horses count as “items,”
then they are definitely the most expensive things I’ve ever brought into my life.
Not so much the purchase price —
we were lucky and got them quite cheaply —
but the transport, equipment, boarding, and care…
that’s where the numbers climbed 😅

And honestly?
Every cent was worth it.

Because if horses don’t count,
then the next most expensive things would be
the high-quality dressage saddles.
Anyone who has been in the horse world knows
those beauties can cost as much as a small car.

But the value wasn’t in the leather.

It was in what those years gave my daughters—
confidence, strength, responsibility,
and the kind of joy that only comes
from early-morning barn breath,
straw in your hair,
and a soft muzzle pushing into your chest
looking for carrot kisses.

The laughter, the bonding,
the quiet conversations with animals
who don’t judge —
those are priceless.

So yes…
an expensive hobby.
But one that gave us years of memories,
connection, and love woven through simple moments.

Worth every euro.
