Driving my daughter to a friend’s house tonight felt like stepping into another realm.

Here in the Canary Islands, we’re blessed with warm evenings — still 24°C (75°F) at the end of October. The town streets are narrow, homes tucked close along the hillside, as if guarding ancient stories.

But tonight… something was different.

As we drove upward, a white mist curled across the road — thin and delicate, like curtains of smoke breathing through the streets. We don’t really get fog here, not like this. It looked almost unreal… as though the night itself had decided to soften its edges.

It wasn’t eerie.
It was enchanted.

The fog drifted between the houses, shimmering under the streetlights, turning every corner into a quiet threshold.
With Halloween tomorrow, it felt like nature was setting the stage — calling the unseen a little closer.

Just for a moment — the world felt thinner.
Like anything could cross through.
Like magic was quietly weaving its way into the ordinary.

And I felt grateful to witness it.
