Daily prompt-2088
When was the first time you really felt like a grown-up (if ever)?

I think it was when I was 14. I started working at a supermarket in the afternoons and on the days I wasn’t in school. Getting my own paycheck gave me a taste of freedom — I could finally buy the clothes I wanted.
I’m the oldest of four siblings, and we didn’t have much luxury growing up. Most of my clothes were passed down from older cousins, so that first little moment of independence felt huge. The day I held my first paycheck in my hand, I remember thinking, “This is it — I’m grown up now.”
People always said I was more mature for my age — and I looked older too. (I may have taken advantage of that once or twice, ahm, lol.) But truthfully, that job taught me responsibility and pride in earning my own way — even in small things.
Funny how growing up often starts the moment we learn to stand on our own feet — even just to buy a pair of jeans. 👖💜
